Downtown Austin Residents – We Heard You! Dear DANA Survey Respondents, Thanks so much for participating in our 2019 Downtown Resident Survey. We appreciate your taking the time to share your concerns with us as we all share the experience of living downtown. We are committed to keeping our neighborhood a special place for all who live, work and visit here. Here are your overarching issues: 1. Homelessness/Panhandling 2. Traffic 3. Scooters Safety concerns were clearly important to our members and residents of downtown. Our DANA members and downtown residents were also overwhelmingly opposed to amending the Homelessness ordinances. The DANA President, Eileen McPhillips Portner and Vice President, Kimberly Levinson spoke in opposition to amending these ordinances to the Mayor, City Council and the City Manager. They both requested that additional time be given to study the ramifications of amending these ordinances and to allow various stakeholders from multi-sectors of the community to be part of the solution to this difficult problem. DANA has deep regard for the plight of the homeless in our city and supports homing the homeless. Thank you for all your thoughtful responses on this subject. Again, we appreciate your input and concerns and have shared your concerns with our representatives. We hope to see you at a DANA event soon! We are holding a meeting for the respondents who offered to volunteer for DANA on Tuesday July 30th, 5:00pm-6:30 pm at The Four Season’s Residence, Skyline Room, 32nd floor, 98 San Jacinto Blvd. Best, DANA Board of Directors P.S. The BoD would like to thank Staci Livesay for her hard work with the survey! |
